ONE WEEK TO GO: COMP OF COMPS

With one week exactly till publication day for Write to be Published, I bring you much competitionishness.

Let me remind you of the competitions still to play for.

The Big WTBP Comp - deadline July 1st - a writing competition with prizes of a critique and crabbit bags. And publication on this blog. And please note: I've just altered the rules to allow under-18s to enter, but only if an adult can guarantee that the young writer is ready for the critique if he or she should win!

The hilarious What Not to Say in a Covering Letter one - deadline June 1st, midday UK - crabbit bag prizes.

The pick-me mug competition - deadline June 1st, midday UK - prize of an "almost literally unique" WTBP mug.

The #lessinterestingbooks one, after the Twitter storm I generated last week.

And today I am launching the Competition of Competitions - very simply, all those who have (by June 1st, midday UK) entered any of the other three competitions and/or** commented below will have their names put in a bag and one lucky winner will be drawn out. The winner will be allowed to choose one of the following:
  • any one of my books apart from WTBP
  • a crabbit bag
  • or an "almost literally unique" crabbit mug
** EACH competition entry gives you one chance - so, if you've entered three times, your name goes in the bag three times. BUT commenting more than once below won't get you any more chances than commenting once. So, if you enter a competition twice AND comment once, you will have three chances; if you enter a competition twice and comment twice, that's still three chances.

Got it?

Another way to win a crabbit bag - come to the Foyles London event on 2nd June or the Blackwells Edinburgh event on 16th June and put your name in the prize draw.

This is my comment. I would like to
Win the almost unique Crabbit mug, as my office mug has seen better days. A Morgan mug would fit the bill nicely.

This is exciting! It would DEFINITELY be a book for me. Fleshmarket. No, the highwayman's footsteps. No, Monday's are red... Oh dear. ;-)

I wish I could make it to the London event! My Crabbit bag goes to work with me every day, it's now part of the NHS infrastructure.

I hope mugs like flying.

I never really know what to put in the comment box... unless I have been asked a question.

It's kind of like when someone says 'say something.' And you are 'like what?' And you are mildly panic stricken that you can't think of anything to say other than 'like what?'.

Write To Be Published arrived in the mail this week, via The Book Depository. I am now devouring it! :)

I covet the Crabbit bags. And, as I'm already considered a bag, might as well go the whole hog.

This is a comment.

I've also just written a little review of WTBP on my blog. Does that give me an extra chance, pretty please? I really really really want one of those bags.

Just wanted to say that I've only recently discovered your blog. Fantastic. Marvellous articles - love the "stupid things writers do" section! I'm afraid I have once been guilty of the "I'm sending out chapters 3, 25 and 73, because I think they're the best" or some such tosh...
Have entered the comp's... hope being a new member doesn't count against me!!
Oh, and all the best for the launch!

Comment! I feel bad only commenting on the competitions posts... but I do read the rest, promise. I just don't do comments well.

Would love a Crabbit bag I think it brings with it a certain street cred.
Even if I am unlucky in the great comp of comps extravaganza, thank you for your continued inspiration.

I'd LOVE a crabbit bag - I hear they're legendary!
Write to be Published came through my letterbox on Friday and it is on the process of being well and truly devoured! Thanks, Nicola.

WTBP has arrived - Mrs Francis said 'this woman keeps asking me to be her friend on Facebook - you said you didn't know who she is.'
I denied all knowledge.
So - comment made, "pick me mug" done, still resolute to take time over the WTBP comp.

Francis - sorry, my comment just got a bit mashed. Here's what i wanted to say: Um, confused. I am not aware that i've asked anyone to be my friend on FB. I only ever ask people I actually know, and then very rarely. I definitely don't (to my knowledge!) keep asking anyone. Sounds embarrassing! Oh, i did ask Waterstone's - is Mrs F Waterstone's? But I only asked once - and they said yes!
