Tomorrow, Monday 23rd November, Pen2Publication opens its doors for business. Amazingly, I have some clients already - quick-footed blog-readers getting in under my radar and signing up before I'm open. I bet you're the people who sleep on the street outside Harrods before the sale begins!
Anyway, you can now visit the website - www.pen2publication.co.uk - where you'll find all the information you need about what I'm doing and whether it might be something you're interested in.
I must emphasise that this will not affect the advice given on my blog at all. The blog is where I will continue to hang out, lounging around with sparkly wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, and gorgeous shoes on my feet, dishing out free advice to anyone who cares to listen.
So, how is Pen2Publication different? [Apart from the fact that you pay for it...] Well, since free public advice can only be general, it can't properly address your specific situation. It certainly can't take into account whether your writing is any good. Pen2Publication offers a range of professional services which allow you to discover important truths about your own potential for publication and help you move towards your goal. And I have some great people helping me, too.
There are, of course, no promises of publication at the end of it. I do make two promises, however:
- When you are my client, you will receive my full attention, honesty and expertise.
- Your writing, and therefore your chance of publication, will improve.
Hooray for low-key sales pitches!

I am tempted, i must say Nicola, as i am presently writing my first teen book.
It is a little scary though, the idea of subbing work to the notorious crabbit old bat (i say that affectionately:))
I've used a very well known literary consultancy before, and the report was very helpful - critical but encouraging.
Another organisation did a report on the same book and the patronising tone of it made me feel like giving up writing.
So just remember what power you wield!!
Good luck with it, anyway, Nicola. I'm sure it will be a great success.
All sounds wonderful.
Wish I lived over there, had a book written rather than short stories. Then I could knock on your door, and at the very least would have a bit of chocolate. Or your brain cake. I need it!
Good luck! You will have a hit on your hands, or knock it out of the ball park, or some other silly things Americans say when not thinking creatively.
If I had any money I'd be in like a shot, but unfortunately...
Should I win the lottery, you will be amongst the first to know, Nicola.
In the meantime, I wish you all the best with it - good luck!
As another wishful American, I would have loved to be under your wings.
Best of luck.
I agree that it's very scary to think of subbing to such a crabbit old bat as me, but I hope some people find the courage! actually, you wouldn't believe the lengths I will go to not to destroy anyone's fragile self-esteem!
Thanks for all your good wishes.
I like your blogs, like your new site. Do you know anyone in the US doing something similar? (There are a lot of 'book doctor' scams out there.)
Congratulations, Nicola! I wish you and the authors you take on much success!
Hmm, fragile certainly was the word for me a few books ago, Nicola.
"A few books ago". Oh dear, that looks bad in black and white:)
I imagine you'll be swamped.
Congratulations Nicola - Pen2Publication will be a surefire success, and you so deserve it. I wish it had been around earlier during my years in the writing wilderness. Not that I'm out of the wilderness yet but I do have an agent now.
I'm glad you'll still be hanging out on your blog.
Congratulations and best wishes on your new venture. You'll be a hit!
The site and the services offered look great. I wish pen2publication every success.
Miaou! When some kind human buys me the winning lottery ticket then I will avail myself of your services. Until then it will, sadly, have to wait.
In the meantime I wish you a steady stream of clients who will allow you to bask in reflected glory. They will, naturally, allow you to continue buying chocolate, that disgusting sparkly stuff you humans like to drink and strange shoes. (We cats prefer tuna, water and wellies.)
I trust you are not flooded out - we would welcome more water Downunder if you are.
Best of luck with your new business!
From each expense that you pay out,
May handsome profit quickly sprout.
Yes, pen2publication is an admirable service which I hope will be a great success for you, Nicola! Professional mentoring like this is difficult to find.
Wishing PEN2PUBLICATION every success - the services you are offering look great.
(IF my wip is ever completed and SUBSEQUENTLY bombs, I SHALL be relocating to your in-box!)
I'm so glad you are keeping this blog going - it is a real boon for those of us dipping out toes in the writing waters. I might still worry about the sharks but I trust the bat....
GOOD LUCK in your new venture - lang may yer lum reek!
All the best to you, Nicola! I'm sure P2P will be a success.
I'm not at all concerned about you lacerating the psyches of countless writers. You are crabbit, but you've never been cruel.
We've never seen, though, what happens if someone offers to pay you in toffees. Perhaps then cruelty would be justified.
You should add free Valium and tissues with your services for the faint at heart writers and you will be the bomb. When I get a job and you know, not figuring inventive ways to stay afloat with a few bills in my pocket for weeks, I am so going to give you a manuscript to pull your hair over. *grin*
Good luck with your enterprise, Nicola. I'm sure loads of people will be signing up to hear your excellent advice.
